Zain Javadd Malik (/ ˈmælɪk/; born January 12, 1993), also known as Zayn, is a British singer. Malik was born and raised in Bradford, and in 2010 as a solo player participated in the audition for the British music competition The X Factor. After being eliminated as a solo artist, Malik returned to the competition with four other players and formed boy band. One Direction became one of the best-selling boy bands of all time. Malik left the band in March 2015 and subsequently signed a solo record contract with RCA Records. With his first studio album Mind of Mine (2016) and the lead single "Pillowtalk" with a more alternative R&B music style, Malik became the first British male artist to be ranked number one in the UK and the UK. America, their first singles and albums. His single "I Don`t Wanna Live Forever" with Taylor Swift and "Dusk Till Dawn" with Sia have achieved international success. Malik released his second studio album "Icarus Falls" in 2018. His third album "Nobody Is Listening" was released in January 2021. Malik has received multiple honors, including the American Music Awards and the MTV Music Video Awards. He is also the only artist to win the Billboard Music Awards Newcomer of the Year award twice, once as a member of One Direction in 2013, and again as a solo artist in 2017.
